(a) an extension of time for any such delay, if completion is or will be delayed, under sub-clause 8.4 EXTENTION of TIME FOR COMPLETION
(b) payment of any such cost plus reasonable profit, which shall be included in the contract price.
After receiving this notice, the Engineer shall proceed in accordance with sub-clause 3.5 DETERMINATION to agree or determine (1)whether and (if so) to what extent the error could not reasonably have been so discovered, and (2)the matters described in sub-paragraphs(a)and (b) above related to this extent.
“红皮书”中，承包商由于迟延的图纸或指令导致施工延误，承包商应在一个合理的时间内发出通知，要求工程师尽快交付图纸或发出指令。如果工程师仍然没有发出图纸和指令，且承包商遭受经济损失和工期延误，承包商有权要求索赔。在实际工作中，如果承包商没有正式要求，工程师就不想发出图纸和指令。所以在工程师正式发出通知前，最好和工程师进行探讨，工程师不发图纸和指令的原因是什么（可能图纸和指令需要纠正，工程师想根据3.3条发出图纸和指令等）。这样便于实际工作的沟通协调和问题的及时解决。
