当年上海有影响力的英文报纸【字林西报】以及它的副刊【北华捷报】（周刊），都对案件作了深入的报道，在1931年12月1日出版的【北华捷报】对此案件中提到的武定路现场，作了如下描述：“······it was nearly noon before the first corpses, the two women were unearthed. The yard is about 20 ft square, with one corner cut away，the whole being surrounded by a wall nearly 9 feet high. After spading 18 inches deep，····· they saw two bodies，both female，prone and face downwards·
····· they body of younger was entirely unclothed,，while that of a considerably elder women was partially covered......”
当二名女尸中第一具被挖掘出，已大约过了中午时分。这天井大约20平方英尺（译注：约6平方米），里面一个角被斜切，整个天井被一个约9英尺（译注：约2米7）高的墙围住.在挖掘了18英寸（译注：约合45公分）深后看到二具女性尸体，脸朝下卧倒着······其中年龄看上去轻一点的女尸，身体全裸露，而看上去年长一些的女尸，身上尚有部分衣服遮体······”
